How much do lessons cost and how long do they go for?

John is mindful of the rising cost of living and keeps his rates as affordable as possible.

  • Private lesson: $50.00 for 50 minutes

  • Group lesson (2 students): $80.00 for 50 minutes

How do I pay for singing lessons with John?

You can pay using the secure online booking system on this website. Prefer to pay in person? John also accepts EFTPOS payments at the studio.

Can John help me increase my vocal range?

While some aspects of vocal range are influenced by genetics, John teaches techniques to help you access and strengthen all areas of your voice. You’ll learn how to safely approach high notes and improve vocal coordination through targeted exercises.

Does John specialize in a particular kind of singing?

John teaches most contemporary vocal styles but has a special love for Jazz, Musical Theatre, and Contemporary Pop/Rock.

Does John teach children as well as adults?

Yes! John enjoys working with students of all ages. He is the current Musical Theatre Instructor for Mousetrap Youth Workshops and has extensive experience teaching children. He also holds a current Blue Card for working with young people.

What are lessons with John like?

Lessons are fun, engaging, and tailored to your goals. The first session is usually a full vocal evaluation to understand your voice and experience level. After that, each lesson includes warm-ups, vocal technique work, and time spent on songs and performance skills.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

Life happens — John gets it! He kindly asks for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.

  • Late cancellations: A $25.00 fee applies for cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice.

  • Exceptional cases: If something unexpected occurs, the cancellation fee may be waived at John’s discretion.

Can I hear what John sounds like as a singer?

Absolutely. Just search “John Da Cruz” on your favourite music platform (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, etc.) and have a listen!
